Contest Rules

Stein Race
Participant will race with 1 full liter stein around a designated course. The contestant who completes the course in the fastest time and with the most amount of liquid remaining in their stein, as determined by weight, is the winner.



Masskrugstemmen Contest
Are you a strong man (woman)?

Masskrugstemmen is the lifting and holding of a 1-liter mug filled with Hofbrไu Beer for the as long as a time as possible.  The Masskrug (the 1-liter stein) is to be held with one arm completely outstretched and parallel to the floor. The goal is to hold the stein up as long as possible, but it must be parallel to the floor. If the arm holding the Masskrug is not absolutely parallel to the floor, the contestant gets a warning - after two warnings, is disqualified.

All strong men (and women) are invited to participate in qualifying rounds:

            Friday, August 27, 9:30
            Saturday, August 28, 7:00
            Saturday, August 28, 9:15
 

Top 5 winners from each round will compete in the finals on Sunday evening at 7:15.
Entry fee is $20 and the Masskrug and the beer in it is yours to keep! Enter at the event.

Prize for the winner is  a $100 gift certificate to the Hofbrไuhaus in Pittsburgh along with an overnight stay at the Marriott Spring Hill Suites, Southside Works, Pittsburgh (subject to availability), and a first place certificate.

Stein Holding  Contest Legal Disclaimer

•   Masskrugstemmen in NOT a drinking game. The competition is about holding a filled 1-liter mug with an outstretched arm in compliance with the rules set by the organizers.

•    Competitors are aware of the risks involved in Masskrugstemmen, e.g., cramps, muscle tension, or other injuries that might occur, including to their self-esteem.

•    The organizers of the Heimatland Oktoberfest cannot be held responsible for any injuries that occur in connection with the competition.

•    The Heimatland Oktoberfest does not encourage drinking. Even though Masskrugstemmen involves a filled 1-liter mug, we strongly encourage all in attendance to drink responsibly and to neither drive nor operate machinery while under the influence of alcohol. 



Yodeling Contest
