CORN HOLE TOSS
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Sides & Position:
Every match is broken down into sides of play. A side is completed when
both contestants playing near the same board (or side) pitch all four of
their corn bags. Each player's partner will be positioned directly across
from them next to the opposite board.
Value of the Corn Bag:
1. Corn Bag In-The-Hole - A corn bag in-the-hole is a corn bag which
is thrown through the hole on the board or otherwise
comes to
rest entirely inside the board (knocked in by another
bag). A corn
bag in-the-hole has a value of three points.
2. Corn Bag On-The-Board - A corn bag that is not
entirely inside
the hole but lands with any portion of the corn bag resting
on the
board is on-the-board, and has a value of one point. It must
not
touch the ground or my other portion of the court prior to
coming
to rest on the board. If a corn bag touches the ground before
coming to rest on the board, it is a foul and must be removed
from the board prior to the continuation of play.
Delivery of Corn Bags During Play:
A side of contestants alternate pitching corn bags until they have
thrown all four corn bags, as do the remaining contestants pitching
from the other board. Delivery of each corn bag should take no
longer than 10 seconds.
Contestants should stand along the side of a board while pitching
a corn bag, but must not let their feet step past the front edge
of the board as this is a foul and their bag will be removed.
Exception-Handicapped persons or children under the age
of 10 may stand 6 feet in front of the edge of the board.
The team who scored in the preceding side should pitch first in the
next side. If neither pitcher scores, the team who pitched first in the
preceding side shall pitch first in the next side.
Scoring:
Scoring is a negation or cancellation format where opposing
player's frame points cancel one another out. Only those points
that do not cancel out apply to the total overall score for that side.
Example: Team A scores 7 points for a side and Team B scores
9 points in the same side. The difference is 2 (9-7=2).
Team B scores 2 points in that side and Team A scores 0.
Length of the Game:
Contestants just beginning the tournament or continuing after
waiting on a previous round ("cold" players) will be allowed
a warm-up session. Warm-up sessions for each "cold" player
will be allowed to toss a limit of four bags before regulation
play begins. The limit on warm-ups is established to keep play moving.
The Corn Toss match shall be played until the first team of
contestants reaches (or exceeds) 21 points at the completion of a side
or 30 minutes has elapsed, which ever comes first. If the 30 minute time
limit has elapsed, the team with the most points after the end
of a recently completed side wins the match, unless the highest
score at the time is 18 points or greater, in which case the game
will be completed until one team reaches 21 points or more.
The match can never end in the middle of a side. Thus,
if a
contestant from Team A that pitches first reaches or exceeds 21
points, the game can not end until the contestant from Team B is
allowed to pitch all of their corn bags and the side is completed.
Awards:
First,
second and third place winners will receive ribbons.
